I wish we all could be California girls...

Okay everyone, we're back from our trip to California and we've got a few stories to share! =)

First, I'd like to update you on the condition of my grandfather. He's doing alright. He is a little sick, and they have tried a few ways to help him get better, none of which seem to be working. They are re-trying something now, and if it doesn't work, we're thinking he will have to go to surgery. We're trying not to think about that, but we're just praying that everything works out alright without the need of surgery.

We ended up in California over the Fourth of July, and every year on the 4th, my family goes and spends a few days camping out on the beach. It's what a lot of people do out there and you ahve to book a space like nine to twelve months in advance. This year we went out to Coronado (an island off of San Diego) which was a lot of fun. From our spot on the beach we could see 4 fireworks displays. The best part was that we spent like three days on the beach. The people who were there were my Grandma (Bommie) and Grandpa (Papa), Auntie Vicky and Uncle Virgil, Cousin Jeff and his wife Carla and their three kids Maddie, Makaliegh, and Mavrick, Cousin Jenny and her husband Peter and their four kids Kaitlyn, Kelsey, Cade, and Cooper. So here are a few pictures of our days on the beach. Jared and Matt found a passion for body boarding and surfing, and we lost them to the water for most of the time we were on the beach.

These pictures are of MaKaliegh and Mavrick, and one of Jared and Matt on the beach having a good time. We also drove matching red, Mustang convertables. Oh my goodness, it was so much fun!

These are a few more pictures from the beach, we were getting a BBQ going, you know my family and food! Steaks on the beach, you can't beat that!
This is just a perfect picture of my family around the food. lol

Ever heard of a pole pocket??? LOL This is something my family does at the beach over the fire, and they are pretty good, but different! First what you do is take a biscuit and fold it over a round end of a pole... and then cook it over the fire...
This snack definitly has a few dirty names too... lol
You then fill the "pocket" with whatever you would like, we filled them with Chocolate and Whipped Cream, it was really good!
And VOILA! A pole pocket!! =)

We also went and painted plates in Carlsbad, which if you know us, you know we do it on every vaction. This is my dad's plate. I need to still get pictures of everyone elses.

On our last day in California (we flew a red-eye home Monday to Tuesday) we went to Laguna, and Hollywood and drove around. This is of Jared on the beach, begging to stay. I have some more pictures, but I'll add them later. I'm getting a little tired! I hope you enjoy taking a look at these vacation pictures! I'll post more later.
